About ISI Books

More than anything else, books gave shape and impetus to the postwar American conservative intellectual movement. Indeed, books continue to be the locus where ideas are explored, developed, refined, debated, and analyzed. ISI believes strongly that the nurturance of both the mind and heart depends today as much as ever upon the publication of independent, thoughtful books.

ISI’s hallmark is to approach intellectually challenging subjects in a style that is accessible to the average intelligent reader, avoiding both dumbing-down and unnecessary jargon.

Publishing approximately twenty-four titles per year, ISI’s roster of authors is impressive, including thinkers such as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Paul Hollander, Jeffrey Hart, Robert P. George, Russell Hittinger, William Dembski, George Nash, Harvey Mansfield, Ralph McInerny, Israel Kirzner, Allan Carlson, Peter Lawler, Joseph Pearce, Roger Scruton, Russell Kirk, and John Lukacs. It regularly publishes new editions of classic titles by authors such as Orestes Brownson, Philip Rieff, Romano Guardini, Wilhelm Ropke, and Richard Weaver. And it is also committed to facilitating trans-Atlantic cultural communication by publishing today’s most insightful European intellectuals, such as Chantal Delsol, Alain Besancon, Pierre Manent, and Andreas Kinneging.

It is thanks largely to this list of authors that ISI Books has been privileged to receive many words of praise and awards for the press’s work in recent years.

Praise for ISI Books

"ISI Books is in the forefront of the fight for civilization, and is on the frontline in the battle to restore culture and to revitalize politics. More important, it is in the vanguard of the religious struggle that will decide the very future of civilization itself. In the war against the new barbarians and their culture of death, ISI Books provides some important weapons of mass reconstruction." —Joseph Pearce, author, Literary Converts, Writer in Residence and Associate Professor of Literature at Ave Maria University

ISI Books is without question one of the most important publishers in America. If there is ever to be a broad revival of dynamic traditionalism, ISI Books will be right at its center.—Rod Dreher, Dallas Morning News, and author, Crunchy Cons

“ISI Books is one of the blessings of this century and the last century, beautifully producing important works rather studiously neglected by contemporary publishing.” —William F. Buckley Jr.

“The quality from your press is exceptional.”
Laura Merzig, Ethics and Public Policy

“It seems to me that ISI Books is now, certifiably, one of the outstanding success stories of serious publishing in the past decade. —Wilfred McClay, Chair of Excellence in Humanities at the University of Tennessee
